University Students Form New Press Team

28th September 2016

A new team has signed for Cheltenham Town Ladies Football Club.

Second year Sports Journalism students from the University of Gloucestershire; Joseph Rose, Lawrence Taylor (pictured left – back row), Elliott Cuff and Jack Watson (front row) have formed a new media team.

The four-strong line-up will provide match reports, news stories and content for the club’s matchday programme and website. Their remit covers print, video and audio channels including interviews with players. They will live tweet during matches as well as provide other social media support.

The team will work on both the first team and development squad home games for the rest of the season and seek to promote the club in the media.

They came together after a tweet by club vice-chairman Ian Purvis asked the university if any students wouldhelp. He says he was delighted by the response.

Mr Purvis said: “We are tremendously grateful to the lads for offering to help us in their own time. They are a delightful group and we want to make sure this is a two-way arrangement where they get some valuable experience for their future careers.

“I’m sure their knowledge of sports journalism and social media will greatly benefit us so we want to help them as much as we can.”

He wants to thanks Tom Bradshaw and Bren McLoughlin from the University’s media department who were instrumental in helping arrange the agreement.
