Retained List Week 3 Roundup

23rd August 2020

A bit of a Hartpury-themed week, as centre-half Cerys Dolloway and winger Sarah King were joined by midfielder Ruby Scahill and forward Jade Grove ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Cerys Dolloway|Defender

Gifted centre-half Cerys has been a regular in The Robinesses’ defence since joining the club in 2018. She’s formed formidable partnerships with Sam Morris and Mai Butler in previous seasons.

Most Cheltenham fans will know Cerys after she opened the scoring against Swindon Town with a bullet header in the first three minutes as the two teams faced off against Whaddon Road.

Sarah King|Midfielder

Sarah became a Robiness at the start of last season, impressing in the club’s open training session. Able to operate at right wing or right back, Sarah has an ability to always come away with the ball regardless of who she’s against.

Introducing herself to Cheltenham Town Ladies fans early, scoring the only goal in a tight game against Buckland, Sarah was third in overall appearances last season.

For the 2020/21 season, Sarah will be sponsored by Plan Delivery

Ruby Scahill|Midfielder

Ruby joins the club from Swindon Town Women where she made 11 appearances last season, all of which were starts.

A real battler for the ball with a seemingly endless supply of energy, Ruby has gelled into the squad well and can’t wait to get started.

For the 2020/21 season, Ruby will be sponsored by Swindon Mult-Sports

Jade Grove|Forward

Strong centre-forward and Hartpury student, Jade joins the club from Boldmere St. Michael in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.

A regular fixture in the Birmingham-based side, Jade made 19 appearances during 2019/20, 14 of which were starts. She would contribute four goals as Boldmere competed against Wolves for the top spot in the league.

For the 2020/21 season, Jade will be sponsored by Holden Garden Machinery

Reaction

Manager Tom Davies was delighted to confirm the signatures of some of the club’s key players.

Talking to ctlfc.com, Tom said “Cerys is part of the furniture here, she’s been unlucky with picking up niggling injuries over the past 12 months but now we feel it’s the right time for her to kick on start playing her best football. She’s composed in possession, reads the game extremely well and isn’t afraid to put her head where it hurts.

“Sarah’s development over the last 12 months has been huge, she’s put a lot of work in, both on the pitch and the gym. She’s got brilliant quality, technically she’s very strong strong and works extremely hard. She’s still learning and applying but I’m excited to see what she can do this season!

“I’m delighted Ruby and Jade have also put pen to paper. They’re two of the players we identified at the end of last season as priority people to bring in, who suit the way we want to play and are willing to listen and learn.

“Ruby’s tenacious, she works extremely hard and has a fantastic appetite to learn. She’s one of the brightest faces in the dressing room and someone who brings a good vibe each session.

“Jade’s incredibly powerful, and clinical in front of goal. She’s someone who everyone enjoys playing alongside with the way she brings everyone into the game and ties everything together.”
