PREVIEW: Oxford United

11th October 2023

By Owen Mason.

Cheltenham Town Ladies will be looking to bounce back from two consecutive defeats as they welcome Oxford United Women to Kayte Lane on Thursday night. (7:45pm kickoff)

The Robinesses are looking for their first points since their last outing in Bishops Cleeve, the 4-3 thriller with MK Dons almost a month ago.

Tom Davies’ side were unfortunate to not get anything from a valiant defensive effort last time out away at Rugby Borough on Sunday, losing 3-1.

An early goal from Katy Morris was cancelled out smartly by Robinesses top scorer Phoebie Poole, who got her sixth goal of the campaign, by lobbing Borough keeper Erin Foley.  Two second half goals from Ellie Nixon and Angelina Nixon gave the home side all three points.

The Robinesses will be looking to continue their unbeaten record at Kayte Lane, which has seen three wins and a draw so far this term.

They welcome an Oxford United side who are 6th in the table, and are full of confidence following their 2-1 win over Ipswich Town at the weekend.

Davies’ side’s meetings with the Yellows last season were both very different, with the Robinesses losing 5-0 back in September 2022, and being on the winning side last February, beating the Yellows, 2-1.

Cheltenham were the first to beat Oxford that season, and by the end of the campaign, one of only three sides to manage that feat.

Tickets are £6 for adults, and £3 for concessions, and will be played at Kayte Lane (GL52 3PD). For more information regarding travel to the stadium, click here.

For supporters unable to attend, live-action updates will be provided on the Club’s X Account (formerly Twitter) as well as on Instagram.
