PREVIEW: Ipswich Town

22nd September 2023

by Owen Mason.

Cheltenham Town Ladies will be making the long trip to Ipswich Town on Sunday (2PM Kick-off) as they look to obtain their first away points of the 2023/24 Women’s National League Southern Premier.

Tom Davies’ side will be hoping to tap in to some of the extraordinary resilience seen last week, as the Robinesses made a remarkable comeback.

Last weekend Emily Allen opened the scoring within minutes, however a flurry from MK Dons saw the away side 3-1 up with 10 minutes left.

The drama wasn’t done then however as goals from Henna Butcher, Emily Owen and Phoebie Poole completed an incredible comeback at Kayte Lane, which kept the Robinesses’ unbeaten record intact at their new home.

They travel to an Ipswich Town side who currently sit in second in the table on 12 points, only bettered by Hashtag United who have five wins from five so far this term.

A 3-2 defeat to the league leaders is the only blemish on their record, having won their other four fixtures, 2-1, 7-1, 1-0 and 5-0 respectively.

Cheltenham are looking for their first away points of the season, after two straight defeats on the road, 5-0 to Portsmouth and 3-2 to Plymouth.

The two return fixtures against Ipswich saw two defeats for the Robinesses, losing 2-0 back in December, and 8-0 back on the final day of the season in April.

The game is being played at the AGL Arena, in Felixstowe, (IP11 9HT) and tickets are £6 for adults, £4 for over 65s, and £2 for Under 19s.

For supporters unable to attend, live-action updates will be provided on the Club’s X Account (formerly Twitter), as well as Instagram.
