9th September 2023

By Owen Mason.

Cheltenham Town Ladies will be looking to gain their first away win of the 2023/24 season on Sunday as they travel to Plymouth Argyle Women in the Women’s National League Southern Premier (2PM Kick-off).

After 3 straight home games, which saw the Robinesses beat Maidenhead United in the Determining Round of the WNL Cup, a 3-2 triumph over London Bees last Sunday, and most recently an entertaining 2-2 draw with Cardiff City.

The Robinesses took the lead through Emily Allen, however quickfire goals before the half time interval gave Cardiff a 2-1 lead. Early on in the second half, Phoebie Poole pulled Cheltenham level, after a smart move down the right from Daisy Ackerman.

Tom Davies’ side have therefore been unbeaten since their first away trip of the season, which saw them lose 5-0 to Portsmouth.

They make the long trip down to Coach Road, with the home side winless in their first two league fixtures, losing 6-0 and 7-1, to Billericay and Ipswich respectively.

The Robinesses met The Greens three times in the 2022/23 season, twice in the league and the other fixture being in the 1st Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

Davies’ side bested Argyle on the opening day of last season, winning 3-1, however the Greens had the better of the Robinesses in the subsequent occasions, winning 4-2 in the FA Cup, and 4-1 in the reverse league fixture back in February.

The game is being played at Coach Road, in Newton Abbot (TQ12 1EL). Tickets are £5 for adults, and under 3’s go free.

For supporters unable to attend, live-action updates will be provided on the Club’s official X account (formerly Twitter), as well as on Instagram.
