Cheltenham Town Ladies will start their 2023/24 home campaign on Sunday, as they take on Maidenhead United in the National League Cup determining round.
Last time out Tom Davies’ side started the WNL Southern Premier season with a 5-0 defeat away at Portsmouth, which saw Pompey star striker Sophie Quirk come away with a hat-trick.
Maidenhead United are currently in the WNL Division One South West, and the last time these two teams met in January 2022, the Robinesses came out 4-1 winners, in the season the team were promoted to the Southern Premier.
Defeat at this stage would see Cheltenham enter the WNL Plate, which they had a great campaign in last term, reaching the Quarter Finals.
First team Manager Davies spoke on how imperative it is to get far in cup competitions, stating: “It’s important as this is one of two cup competitions we enter and it’s something that provides consistency with regular fixtures and momentum.”
The game marks the first competitive Robinesses game at our new home, at Kayte Lane. Davies also alluded to how a good start at home will make for hopefully a good season ahead, saying: “We had a fantastic home record in previous years with some great results.
“It’s important now as we look to kick on that we maintain our home ground being a venue that teams don’t like coming to and we’re able to use our fans as energy to produce fantastic performances and results.” Davies concluded.
Our brand-new home venue, Kayte Lane can be found in Bishops Cleeve, Gloucestershire, with the postcode: GL52 3PD. For more travel information, click here.
Tickets are £6 for adults, £3 for concessions (Seniors and Children) If you can’t make it to the game, there will be live updates on X (formerly Twitter on @CTLadies) and Instagram, (@cheltenhamtownlfc) letting you know all the key developments from the afternoon.
