Emily Allen Joins Cheltenham

4th August 2023

Experienced forward Emily Allen is the latest addition to Cheltenham Town Ladies’ squad ahead of 2023/24.

The 31 year old forward who has previously spent time leading the line for Oxford United and Cardiff Met, where she was involved in four of the Club’s Women’s Champions League campaigns.

“I spoke to a few girls I knew who’d been here, and they only had good things to say,” she told Gloucestershire Live.

“The move has been on my mind for a few seasons. I like where the club is going, so I came down and the girls were really welcoming, so it was a no brainer really.”

During her spell with Cardiff Met she won the Adran Premier three times and participated in four Women’s Champions League campaigns, a time she remembers fondly.

“It was unbelievable, we went to different countries, and managed to score some goals, so it was a very proud moment for me and my family.”

Returning to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier for the first time since 2021, she considered her adaptability to be one of her main strengths on the field, along with a willingness to work hard.

“I’m quite versatile, I can play anywhere across the frontline, working hard, pressing. I like to chip in with assists, and get in the box with goals, if possible.”

Allen is now the most experience player in the squad, but is excited at the chance to help teach and mold some of the Robinesses’ younger faces in the coming season.

“I’m definitely bringing up the average age quite a bit! It’s really important, especially with 18 and 19-year-olds in the squad, so hopefully I can bring experience to them, and they can learn from me.”

“Every team is not an easy game, but having challenged at the top before, I hope I can help Cheltenham push up the league a little more.”

Cheltenham Town Ladies open their 2023/24 FA WNL Premier South account on August 20 with a trip to Potsmouth Women (2pm kick-off). For a list of all the Club’s competitive fixtures this season, click here.
