Tia Asker Joins The Robins

17th August 2022

Cheltenham Town Ladies FC have added Tia Asker to their roster ahead of the opening day against Plymouth on Sunday (2pm).

The 18 year old joins Tom Davies’ side from fellow FA Women’s National League Southern Premier outfit Bridgwater United Ladies, where she made her debut in 2020/21 when the club was known as Yeovil United.

The promising versatile wingback has also spent time at the Dorset Advanced Coaching Centre, as well as having represented Dorset Schools.

Talking to Gloucestershire Live’s Jon Palmer, Asker spoke of her excitement in her new venture in Gloucestershire, commenting: “I began speaking to Tom after the end of the season and he was willing to give me a new opportunity to develop further and play in a position which suits my game very well.

“It’s a club which has ambition and the ability to challenge and become a strong threat within the league.”

Asker is hoping to build both her confidence and experience as Cheltenham have their first taste of third tier football.

“The staff and players are also very welcoming, which made the move to the club very easy,” she said.

Tom Davies was equally optimistic about Asker’s development at the club.

“Tia’s slotted straight into the group like she’s been here for years. She can operate as a fullback, wingback or winger on both sides which gives us tactical flexibility within games and highlights the talent she has at such a young age. I’m looking forward to her kicking on from injuries and contributing to this new group” he told ctlfc.com.

Cheltenham Town Ladies experience FA Women’s National League Southern Premier football for the first time on Sunday (August 21, 2pm), welcoming Plymouth Argyle at the Corinium Stadium. For a list of The Club’s 2022/23 fixtures, click here.
