Robbins Rejoins The Robins

18th March 2022

Powerful striker Rhian Robbins has returned to Cheltenham Town Ladies, with a handful of fixtures left in the season.

Robbins, one of the first signings of former manager Alex Cheal, joined from then-FA WNL Division One SW outfit St. Nicholas Ladies ahead of the 2018 season.

Known for a potent combination of pace and accurate finishing, Robbins was delighted to return to her old stomping grounds.

“I am very excited to be back at Cheltenham,” Robbins explained to Jon Palmer of Gloucestershire Live.

“The club has some great ambitions and playing for them will give me the opportunity to challenge myself and develop further as a player.”

“The return came about when I was talking to a few of my friends who play for Cheltenham and they said about me signing on,” she said.

“It is very exciting and hopefully I can help Cheltenham challenge in winning the title and getting promoted.”

When not scoring goals, Robbins is a learning coach and works with young people aged 13-16 with emotional, social and mental health needs.

She also coaches within the Gloucestershire Girls’ Advanced Coaching Centre, based at the Gloucestershire FA.

Robins manager Tom Davies is confident Robbins can add the firepower needed to help them over the line, providing competition up front for the likes of fit-again Jade Grove, 13-goal leading scorer Lacy-Jai Liggett and Tamzin Hayward.

“As we enter the business end of the season we’re delighted to welcome Rhi,” Davies said.

“She brings valuable experience of the level and a fantastic goalscoring record, which we hope will play a pivotal part in the run in.”

Cheltenham Town Ladies return to action this Sunday (March 20), making the short trip south to Portishead Town (2pm kick-off).
