Cheltenham Town Ladies FC welcomed the signatures of the first three players to commit ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. Goalkeeper Robyn Levett along with defenders Sammy Hallsworth and Harriet Lambe will pull on the red and white of The Robinesses this season as the club look to build on last season’s impressive footing.
Robyn Levett|Goalkeeper
With her accurate passing ability and confidence when stopping shots, the impressive debut was the sign of things to come with the new shot stopper keeping another four clean sheets in her next performances five appearances. The only team to find the net against Levett in 2019/20 being league dominators, Southampton FC Women.
Sammy Hallsworth|Defender
Recovering quickly from an injury five minutes into Cheltenham’s pre-season clash with Wolves Women, Hallsworth would become a regular in the Robinesses’ backline with 15 starts, originally starting out at fullback but showing great versatility to not look out of place at centre-half.
Harriet Lambe|Defender
Following her debut at home against Buckland in the league, Lambe would go on to make another three appearances for The Robinesses, including getting her first goal for the club in the 16-0 drubbing of Pucklechurch.
Lauren Kayll|Striker/Winger
After featuring during Cheltenham’s pre-season campaign, Kayll would return to Wootton Bassett Town Ladies in the South-West Regional Women’s Football League Premier in September, going on to score five goals in eight appearances.
From here, she would move to Cheltenham and Wootton Bassett’s local rivals, Swindon Town, scoring one goal in four appearances in the FA Women’s National League.
Reaction
Manager Tom Davies was delighted to announce the first round of players for the coming season;
“Robyn & Sammy have shown fantastic commitment to the club, having received strong offers from clubs at this level and higher up the pyramid. They’re two highly experienced players who are key figures for the club and who in their own right are fantastic players.
“Harriet’s only played a handful of games since her move from Yeovil and I’m glad she’s committed to the club for the forthcoming season. Since her arrival she’s continued to push herself in every aspect which has resulted in her consistently developing and improving her overall game.
“Lauren is someone who we’ve been tracking over the last 12 months and we feel now is the right time for her to step up and challenge in this environment. She’s got a strong work ethic in terms of her attitude to learn and she’s slotted straight into the group since her arrival.”
