Lauren Kayll joins The Robinesses

8th August 2020

Forward Lauren Kayll has joined Cheltenham Town Ladies from Swindon Town Women.

The highly rated young striker, who came up through the ranks at Swindon Town Women, started the 2019/20 campaign’s pre-season as a part of former Robinesses manager Alex Cheal’s squad, featuring in a number of friendly games before moving on to Wootton Bassett Town Ladies, where she would score five goals in eight appearances in the South-West Regional Women’s Football League Premier, her first coming on the road away to Marine Academy Plymouth.

She would also go on to score 14 goals in 14 games for Hartpury College while studying a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma, before returning to the FA Women’s National League Division One South-West with Swindon, making four appearances and scoring one goal.

In a twist of fate, she would find herself playing against Cheltenham at All Saints Academy when the two teams met at the start of March, only one game before the season would be voided.

Talking to Gloucestershire Live’s Jon Palmer, Kayll stated “I joined Cheltenham for training and the intensity and quality levels were so high that I thought this would be the best place for me.”

“I really liked Tom [First Team Manager, Tom Davies] and his ideas for the season and felt that I could hopefully be a part of them and benefit the team.

“I want to contribute as much as I can and try and score or help to score as many goals as possible during the season. I also want to develop as a player and become a stronger forward.”
