PREVIEW: Watford

The Robinesses are set to face National League Southern Division side Watford FC this Sunday.

Cheltenham played Watford earlier in the season, falling to a 6-0 defeat.

But Tom Davies’ side come into the game off the back of two strong results, completing a league double over Billericay Town and breaking Oxford’s undefeated league record in a 2-1 victory.

Watford, on the other hand, have only had one league game this calendar year, a 1-1 draw with third place Ipswich Town. The side fell to a 3-2 defeat to Billericay Town on the other side of the Christmas break.

Cheltenham sit sixth in the table, and one point behind fourth place Watford, but the Golden Girls do have games in hand on the surrounding teams.

Speaking before the match, manager Tom Davies says the current run is all down to the players.

“The players took ownership after the Crawley game. The players sat down and realised that they needed to step up. They took ownership and they take the credit.

“They’re the one’s that are performing, they’re the ones that are putting bodies on the line. They’re the ones that are working really hard.”

Cheltenham Town Ladies v Watford FC Women takes place at the Corinium Stadium (postcode: GL7 1HS) at 2:00PM on Sunday, 12 February. Tickets are available on the gate, £6 for adults and £3 for children.
