PREVIEW: Oxford United (H)

31st January 2025

Cheltenham Town Women will be hoping their fantastic recent form in cup competitions translates back to the League as they welcome Oxford United Women to Kayte Lane on Sunday (2pm kickoff).

It is the Robinesses’ first FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division match in seven weeks, after their 5-1 over MK Dons in December. Since then, they have lost only to Wolves in the Fourth Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. Tom Davies’ side are currently on a purple patch of form, as since the start of November, the team have won eight games out of ten available.

This culminated in another historic weekend last time out at Kayte Lane, as they beat Southampton Academy 1-0 to reach the final of the FA WNL Plate. Una Lue opened the scoring with her 12th goal of the season halfway through the second half, however the game didn’t end without some drama.

A late penalty was given to Saints, however Carys Pugh Jones pulled off an incredible save to deny Kaylee Buckingham. She gathered the ball on the rebound, which sealed the Robinesses’ place in the final of the Women’s National League Plate for the first time ever.

This weekend they return to WNL Southern Premier action as they welcome Oxford United to Kayte Lane. Back in October, in the reverse fixture, Sam Rose’s side came out 3-0 winners, with Zoe Barratt scoring a brace and Kate Wiseman getting the third.

Oxford currently sit in sixth place, five points off Exeter City in third. Cheltenham are in ninth on 14 points, seven points off Lewes with a game in hand.

This run continues five consecutive weekend matches at Kayte Lane, as after the visit of Oxford, we welcome Billericay Town to Kayte Lane on Sunday February 9, we resume our Gloucestershire FA Senior Cup campaign against Pucklechurch a week later, and return to league action to take on Watford on Sunday February 23.

Tickets are £6 for adults, and £1 for Under 18s. Cheltenham supporters can be purchase their tickets here via new Club partner, FanBase, or on the gate.
