PREVIEW: Stockport County Away in the FA WNL Plate

29th November 2024

Cheltenham Town Women will be looking to make history this weekend as they face Stockport County in the Women’s National League Plate Quarter-Finals on Sunday(2:00pm kick-off).

If the Robinesses beat Stockport on Sunday, they will reach the FA WNL Plate Semi-Finals for only the second time, their previous semi-final outing coming in 2021/22 in a losing effort to eventual champions Nottingham Forest. Cheltenham’s last appearance in the Plate Quarter Final came in 2022/23, in a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Crawley Wasps.

Tom Davies’ side come into this game on a high after their 2-1 win over Moneyfields last week at Kayte Lane to reach the Third Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Charley Wilson-Wilton gave the visitors the lead, but a turnaround from Ffion Llewellyn and Una Lue booked the Robinesses’ place in the Third Round, where they will host Norwich City on Sunday December 8.

This weekend’s trip sees the Club face Tier Four side Stockport County. The Hatters currently sit 9th in the FA WNL Division One North, with three wins, one draw and five losses from their opening nine games.

To get to the League Plate Quarter Finals, Stockport beat Leafield Athletic and Liverpool Academy, 2-1, before beating Durham Cestria 2-0 to reach the last eight.

The match is being played at Stockport Sports Village, SK6 1QX, Stockport. Tickets are £5 for adults, and £1 for Over-65s. U16s get in free. Supporters making their way to the game should be aware that the stadium is cashless.
