PREVIEW: Plymouth Argyle Away

15th November 2024

Cheltenham Town Women will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Ipswich as they travel to Saltash to face Plymouth Argyle on Sunday (2:00pm kickoff).

Goals from Shauna Guyatt, Sophie Peskett, Charlotte Fleming, Ella Rutherford and a hat trick from Natasha Thomas gave the Tractor Girls a 7-0 victory over Cheltenham last weekend at Kayte Lane.

The defeat leaves Tom Davies’ side in 10th, two points behind Ryan Perks’ Argyle side, who occupy the first of the two relegation places. The Robinesses will be looking for their first league win since August 25th, where they beat MK Dons.

Last time out, Plymouth beat Gwalia United 4-3 in a thriller at Home Park. That league win coincides with a 2-1 win over Billericay Town to advance to the Quarter Finals of the Women’s National League Cup, and a 6-0 win over Poole Town to advance to the Second Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

In the reverse fixture back in August, Cheltenham came out 4-0 winners over Argyle on the opening day of the season at Kayte Lane. Goals from Henna Butcher, Lacy-Jai Liggett, Una Lue and Emily Owen gave Cheltenham a golden start to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier season.

After Sunday’s game against Plymouth, the Robinesses will shift focus to their Second Round FA Cup match against Moneyfields on Sunday November 24, and their FA WNL Plate Quarter Final against Stockport County a week later.

If Davies’ side advance to the Third Round of the Women’s FA Cup, they will play that fixture on Sunday December 8. In any case the final Robinesses game of 2024 will be MK Dons making the trip to Kayte Lane on Sunday December 15.

The game is being played at Kimberly Stadium, in Saltash, Cornwall, PL12 6DX. Tickets cost £10 for adults, £5 for Over 65s, £3 for Under 18s, and Under 14s go free.

For supporters unable to attend, live-action updates will be provided on the Club’s X Account (formerly Twitter) as well as on Instagram.
