PREVIEW: Rugby Borough (H)

4th January 2024

By Owen Mason.

Cheltenham Town Ladies will be looking to kick off 2024 with a win as they take on Rugby Borough at Kayte Lane on Sunday (2pm).

The Robinesses go into this game having lost only one of their last six games, that being a 4-0 defeat last time out against Reading in the Third Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Wins over Cardiff, Exeter, Billericay, and Hashtag United, as well as a draw with Chatham Town in that time has seen some fantastic performances from Tom Davies’ side, and they’ll be looking to see more of the same in the first game of the new year.

Rugby bested The Robinesses back in October, after a late penalty claimed all three points for the home side.

After Rugby took an early lead through Katy Morris, Cheltenham’s top scorer Phoebie Poole levelled before half time. Two second half goals from Ellie Nixon and Angelina Nixon gave Rugby a 3-1 victory.

Borough also lost to Women’s Championship opposition in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, as they got beat 3-2 after Extra Time by Sheffield United. They currently sit third in the league on 21 points, nine points adrift of league leaders Hashtag United, albeit with a game in hand.

Tickets are £6 for adults, and £3 for concessions, and will be played at Kayte Lane (GL52 3PD). Tickets can be bought in advance for this game, as well as on the gate, by clicking here.
