Cheltenham Ladies are set to face Plymouth Argyle for the second time this season as the team take a trip down the M5 this weekend for the First Round Proper of the FA Cup.

The game is the only Tier three clash in the First Round Proper, with both sides competing in the FA Women’s National League Southern Division.

Argyle have lost their last two games to Portsmouth and Billericay leaving them in the relegation zone.

Over the season, the home team have lost four of their six home games so far. Cheltenham have lost three of their five games away from home, however two of the losses came to title challenging Oxford United and Watford. The two wins came in their last two outings on the road against Crawley Wasps and London Bees.

Cheltenham are undefeated in their last four games, including most recently a 9-1 win over AFC St Austell in the League Plate first round.

The Robinesses will be hoping to replicate their performance against the Pilgrims in the league, getting the better of the Devon side in the first game of the season. A long range strike from Argyle’s Charlotte Whitmore was overcome through goals from Izzy Cook and Jade Grove to win 3-1.

Last season, Tom Davies’ side beat Larkhall Athletic and Liskeard Athletic to make it through to the Second Round, where a 3-3 thriller against Southampton Women’s FC led to the south coast side going through 5-6 on penalties.

This is the first FA Cup away game for Cheltenham Ladies since April 2021, where the club faced Portsmouth in the second round of the 2020/21 season. Through the home team playing an ineligible player, Cheltenham were given a place in the third round.

Plymouth Argyle Women v Cheltenham Town Ladies will be played on Sunday, 13 November 2022 at Haye Road.
