For the second weekend in a row, the Robinesses found their way back from a deficit to win, this time 2-1 against a determined opposition in Billericay Town Women.
The first half was a steely contest with neither side giving away clear chances. The half saw several strong efforts from Billericay’s Jess King, which ultimately resulted in nothing as the game stayed 0-0 at the break.
Billericay drew first blood as a loose ball fell to Ellie Jeffkinson the edge of the box who fired the visitors ahead.
The goal sparked a double substitution from manager Cheltenham manager Tom Davies who brought Henna Butcher and Lacy-Jai Liggett (pictured) into action.
Liggett took no time making an impact, and the forward earned a penalty just four minutes after her introduction.
Captain Emily Owen stood up to take the penalty and finished the spot kick coolly into the corner.
Cheltenham kept pushing forward and got their reward. The two substitutes combined as Butcher played the ball to Liggett who fired home past the on-rushing goalkeeper.
Butcher shortly came close to doubling the lead with her own goal as Jade Grove played her in, but the shot passed the wrong side of the woodwork which brought the Robinesses’ goal scoring opportunities to a close.
The game marks Cheltenham’s second game in FA WNL South as the side stay undefeated this season, taking all six points available.
