Jess Hood Joins Cheltenham

Young midfielder Jess Hood has signed for The Robinesses from West Brom Women.

Hood signed for the Baggies Women at the age of 12 years old, moving from Droitwich-based club Westbury Celtic. She would go on to study at Hartpury College, from which she received a call-up to the England Colleges FA national side to take part in the Roma Caput Mundia tournament in Italy, alongside Hartpury and now Cheltenham teammate Sarah King.

“Cheltenham approached West Brom to talk to me,” she told Jon Palmer of Gloucestershire Live.

“After speaking with Tom and seeing the level of coaching and also the ability of the girls already there and those coming in, I could see that it is a great set-up which I am looking forward to being part of and it will also help to develop my game.”

“I’d say I am comfortable with both feet and energetic, with great vision, varied passing ranges and I am always looking to create goalscoring opportunities,” she said.

“The main aim is to help the team get promoted, but as a new player, bonding with the team and everyone pulling together is massively important especially if we want to achieve our goals.

“The team are very welcoming and supportive, they have helped me fit into the team in the short period I have been with them.”

“I want to contribute positively and hopefully help the team to progress which will then improve me as a player,” she said.

“Having played academy football, I am looking forward to playing more competitive football in the first team which hopefully will help improve my game.”
