As the old Ian Dury song goes, Cheltenham Town Ladies have three reasons to be cheerful ahead of Sunday’s match against Basingstoke Town LFC in the FA Women’s Premier League South West Division.
It will be the side’s first match of 2018 after having previous games called off due to unplayable pitches, something chairman Andy Liddle has strong views about in this week’s programme; all proceeds from the game will go to support charity Lilac’s Little Legs; and thirdly it will be the debut for new manager Alex Cheal who officially takes charge for the first time following his appointment at the back end of last year.
“I am delighted to be here and look forward to the task in hand,” Alex says.
He will no doubt will looking for a very solid performance and three points against the team that are currently bottom of the league.
