Development v Forest Green Rovers match report

12th October 2016

Cheltenham Development 0-2 Forest Green Rovers

By Adam Ryman

Forest Green were starting top of the league after an unbeaten start and they got off to a flier with a fantastic goal from 25 yards which left Kath Blunt no chance in goal. Cheltenham grew in to the game though and started to keep possession better and get themselves further up the pitch.

Forest Green were always very dangerous though and their passing and movement was excellent. They grabbed a second after around 30 minutes with a lovely worked 1-2 and a great finish. Cheltenham again responded well though and finished the end of the half on top.

The second half was a midfield battle with Cheltenham putting in so much effort. Kath Blunt made some incredible saves to keep the score line to only two and Jacqs Haines made a brilliant goal line clearance when she headed over her own bar. Everyone continued to fight though, with the young players for cheltenham battling excellently all game showing how much they have matured since the start of the season.

The score finished 0-2 to Forest Green but It was a brilliant effort from all the girls and a performance we can really take forward during the season. Well done everyone.

A special mention this week goes to Kath Blunt who made three or four amazing saves with all body parts and kept us in the game.
