Cheltenham Town Ladies 4 Evesham United Ladies 1

8th August 2016

Last Sunday saw another good performance from CTLFC Ladies, as we overcame a spirited Evesham United in our third pre-season friendly.

We opened brightly, passing the ball with authority and panache, and looked to take the game to Evesham. It was no surprise when Sophie Wyatt fired home from 20 yards to give us the lead. The pattern of the game continued, with us passing the ball around, and creating chances galore. The Evesham equaliser really came out of the blue following a goalmouth scramble just before half time.

However the 2nd half started in the same vain as the 1st, as we focused on our passing game and creating a hatful of chances. Fitness started to be a factor as the visitors tired, and further goals from Louise Fensome, a volley from the edge of the box, and well-taken goals by Lauren Cable and Yas Francis, saw us through comfortably.

Manager Graham Fletcher said: “I wanted the team to pass the ball out from the back, and we were excellent in doing that. At times we were sublime with the way we moved the ball around, quick, sharp one touch passing, and creating a total of over 35 chances. Evesham worked really hard, and I as impressed with the way they competed. Overall, I’m happy with the progress we have made, confidence is high, and we now have to focus on our final friendly matches ahead of the season’s start.”
