Cheltenham Town Women will be looking to reach the final of the Women’s National League Plate for the first time ever as they take on Southampton Academy at Kayte Lane on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
Last time out, Tom Davies’ side had a winning start to their Gloucestershire FA Women’s Senior Cup campaign, as they beat FA WNL Division One South West side Bristol Rovers, 1-0 at Bristol Manor Farm. Meg Attenborough’s first Robinesses goal was enough to seal three points, a feat they’ll look to repeat as their County Cup campaign resumes on Sunday February 16, at home to Pucklechurch Sports.
This weekend, Cheltenham continue their successful run in the FA WNL Plate, as they’ve reached the Semi-Finals for the second time in their history, after getting there in 2022, losing 3-0 to eventual winners Nottingham Forest. To reach the last four this term, Davies’ side have beat Boldmere St Michael’s, Wolves and Stockport County.
Southampton Academy are one of two Professional Game Academy sides left in the competition, after their introduction into the tournament at the start of the 2024/25 season. To reach this point, Saints have beat Crystal Palace Academy, Ashford Town, AFC Wimbledon, and Norwich City.
The other semi-final to take place on Sunday sees FA WNL Division One South West side AFC Bournemouth take on Manchester United Academy.
This game marks the first of three consecutive home matches for the Robinesses, as after the visit of Southampton Academy, we welcome Oxford United to Kayte Lane on Sunday February 2, and Billericay Town a week later.
The game against the Yellows will mark our first WNL Southern Premier Division match in seven weeks, due to the Christmas break, a postponement, and action in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, County Cup and FA WNL Plate.
Tickets are £6 for adults, and £1 for Under 18s. Cheltenham supporters can be purchase their tickets here via new Club partner, FanBase, or on the gate.
