Cheltenham Town Women will be looking for their first home win since the opening game of the season as they welcome Exeter City to Kayte Lane on Sunday (2pm kickoff).
Last weekend the Robinesses traveled to Oxford United, where the U’s ran out 3-0 winners. A brace from Zoe Barratt and a late free kick from Kate Wiseman gave Sam Rose’s side all three points.
Tom Davies’ side welcome Exeter City to Kayte Lane this weekend, who currently sit fourth in the Women’s National League Southern Premier Division, six points off league leaders Hashtag United, with a game in hand.
Abbie Britton’s side were 3-0 up at half time last weekend against Billericay Town before the game got abandoned for a waterlogged pitch. The Grecians won in midweek however, coming out 3-0 winners against Devonshire rivals Plymouth Argyle.
Last season, Cheltenham and Exeter played out a thriller in the Second Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. Sarah Stacey slotted home to give Exeter a 1-0 lead at the break.
A late stunner from Emily Allen levelled the game, and Phoebie Poole gave the Robinesses a 2-1 lead late on. Captain Emily Owen almost sealed it with a penalty, and Exeter got a late consolation to end a fantastic match at Kayte Lane, which saw Davies’ side go through to the Third Round of the FA Cup, for the third time in their history.
This is the first of two straight home games for the Robinesses as they welcome Wolves Women on Sunday October 20, in the Second Round of the FA WNL Plate. A week later they travel to Lewes to round off the month of October.
Tickets are £6 for adults, and £1 for Under 18s, and can be purchased here or on the gate.
