Tomorrow, Cheltenham Town Women will shift their focus to the FA Women’s National League Plate as they take on Boldmere St Michael’s in the First Round (3pm kick-off).
Cheltenham come into this match off of a competitive 2-2 draw with Gwalia United at Kayte Lane on Thursday night. A quickfire double from Doris Greenwood and Una Lue gave Tom Davies’ side a 2-0 lead at the interval. But as the rain fell heavily into the second half, Gwalia pulled back the deficit with goals from Ellie Sargent and Kylie Nolan.
The Robinesses come into this competition after their narrow 1-0 defeat to Worcester City in the WNL Cup Determining Round last month. Davies’ side have had good runs in the Plate in recent years, as they reached the Quarter Finals in 2022/23, and a season earlier they reached the Semi-Finals for the first time in their history, ultimately losing 3-0 to eventual 2022 Plate Winners Nottingham Forest.
They face a Boldmere St Michael’s side who currently sit in sixth place on seven points, with two wins, a draw and three losses from their opening six matches in the WNL Division One Midlands.
After this WNL Plate game, the Robinesses have consecutive weekends in the WNL Southern Premier Division, as they travel to Oxford United on Sunday October 6th, and welcome Exeter City to Kayte Lane on Sunday October 13th.
The game is being played at the Boldmere Community Stadium, postcode B73 5RY.
