Cheltenham Town Women will be looking for their first win in three weeks as they welcome Hashtag United to Kayte Lane on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
The Robinesses fell to another narrow defeat last weekend, this time at the hands of Billericay Town. Jess Francis-Weir opened the scoring after five minutes, and doubled the hosts’ lead shortly before half time. Una Lue halved the deficit with 10 minutes to go, which in turn earned her fourth goal of the season. Late pressure against Adrian Parral’s side almost saw a leveller, however the game finished 2-1 to the Blues.
Hashtag have started the season with four wins out of five, with league wins over Watford, Plymouth and Billericay, and a league cup triumph over Chatham. The only blemish on that record is a 2-0 defeat to fellow promotion rivals Ipswich Town. The Tags currently sit in third place, one point off Exeter and Ipswich, who remain the only unbeaten sides left in the Southern Premier Division after four games.
Last season it was a win apiece for Tom Davies and Jason Stephens. Cheltenham gained a massive 1-0 win over the Tags last December with Una Lue getting the solitary goal; however, Hashtag did beat the Robinesses 3-0 on the final day of the 2023/24 season, with goals from Jade Keogh, Valentine Pursey and Sophie Baigent.
Cheltenham round off the month with a trip to Watford on Sunday September 22, and a game under the lights at Kayte Lane as they welcome Gwalia United on Thursday September 26. They also will play the First Round of the WNL Plate, as they’ll travel to either Boldmere St Michaels or Lincoln City on Sunday September 29, who face off in a Preliminary Round match this Sunday at the Boldmere Community Stadium.
Tickets are £6 for adults, and £1 for Under 18s, and can be purchased here or on the gate.
