Cheltenham Town Women will look to kick off the 2024/25 Women’s National League Southern Premier Season with a win as they welcome Plymouth Argyle to Kayte Lane on Sunday (2:00PM Kick-off)
Tom Davies’ side are a fairly new squad ahead of the new campaign, with 11 new signings joining the rest of last year’s team. Libby Bell, Lacy-Jai Liggett, Abbey Hateley, Lilly Wellesley-Davies, Doris Greenwood, Manfy Sharpe, Esme Moran, Anais Trinci, Mia Smith, Connie Pengelly and Jess Leach complete the new additions ahead of Sunday’s clash.
They face a Plymouth side this Sundaywho gave them two very close games last term, with Plymouth coming out 3-2 victors home and away.
In their last meeting back in January, Emily Owen gave the Robinesses the lead on the half hour, although Fern Orchard levelled for the visitors shortly after half-time.
Charlotte Whitmore made it 3-1 before the Robinesses’ 2023/24 top scorer Phoebie Poole halved the deficit late on, but Plymouth held on to gain all three points.
Plymouth finished two places below Cheltenham’s 7th placed finish last term, finishing 9th on 21 points.
Davies’ side will be looking to start positively in their third campaign in the Southern Premier, and will be looking to win their first game of the season for the first time in two years, after losing 5-0 to Portsmouth last year on the opening day.
The last time the Robinesses won their first game of a new campaign was against this Sunday’s opponents, winning 3-1 in August 2022, with a brace from Izzy Cook and a goal from Henna Butcher.
Tickets are £6 for adults, and £1 for Under 18s, and the game will be played at Kayte Lane (GL52 3PD). Tickets can be purchased online here. For more information regarding travel to the stadium, click here
