Manager’s reaction to great day at Whaddon Road

12th September 2017

What a day, what an occasion, our first FAWPL game at Whaddon Road, was a day we will never forget.

From the moment we arrived at the ground, to the time it finished, it was simply great to be part of it. I know I’m not the only person connected to the Club who felt immense pride that we had achieved this moment, it’s taken a long time, but well worth the wait.

The changing rooms, the Physio room, were all great. When the team walked onto the pitch in their new kit, sponsored by Engineering Integration Ltd and supplied by Macron, they looked fantastic – it really is an amazing kit.

The pitch was pretty good too, and with the WPL’s largest crowd of the day watching in the stands, could it have been any better?

As to the game, I thought we were good, fast out of the blocks, and deserved our lead. Ria Salleh, scoring with a powerful shot. We were in control, I said at half time we needed a second goal, that would have given us a nice cushion. But as the game progressed we allowed Maidenhead back into the game, and they equalised after 80 minutes. We had chances, but couldn’t convert them, and then disaster, a long through ball got into our box, and despite all of our hard work, we allowed Maidenhead to score again. Agony.

It was a great game of football, the noise of the crowd was fantastic, and my players reacted to the support, we can’t thank everyone in person for coming but really hope they enjoyed the game and come back again.

It was a truly great day for the Club, the players and the fans. We can’t wait for the next time, the 19th November is the next big day. Only 10 weeks to go!!

Thanks for your support
