Cheltenham Town Ladies share the spoils in six goal thriller

15th August 2016

Cheltenham Town Ladies continued their preparation for the start of their FA WPL season on the 21st August, with another impressive display, when they travelled to Somerset to play South West Womens Premier Division, Bishops Lydeard.

With their passing game proving to be very effective, Cheltenham Town were 3-0 up inside 30 minutes, goals from Louise Bull, and 2 from Leanne Godwin, had their opponents struggling in the hot sunshine. A momentarily lapse in defence, saw the home side pull a goal back just before half time.

After a number of substitutions at half time, Cheltenham were taken aback as the home side, equalised within the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half. Picking things up, Cheltenham took control of the game again, and probably should have won it at the end.

Manager, Graham Fletcher commented after the game, we were missing a few players, so the squad did really well against some very good opponents, its another friendly, another good workout as we move towards our first league game of the season away at Chichester City, and we can’t wait.
